Shahid Afridi dropped from ODI



 
Pakistan former captain and star all-rounder Shahid Afridi has been dropped from the ODI squad for the tour of India in the end of this month but Shahid Afridi selected for Twenty20 internationals.
Chief Selector Iqbal Qasim announced the squad in a press conference at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) headquarters at Gaddafi stadium Lahore. PCB also included three new players who have shown impressive performance in recent domestic tournaments. These include leg-spinner Zulfiqar Babar, batsman Haris Sohail and fast bowler Asad Ali because of their great performace in President’s Trophy and Faisal Bank Twenty20.
The 35 year old former captain Younis Khan has been selected for one-day International squad after having been dropped from team for the series against Australia. Abdul Razzaq was dropped from both ODI and Twenty20 games. Asad Shafiq was also dropped from both squads because of injury.
Chief selector Iqbal Qasim said that if Afridi wants to be considered ODI player then he would have to show his performance in Twenty20 internationals. The 32 year old all-rounder lost his ODI place because of poor performance in last 23 ODIs. He has scored 408 runs and taken only 35 wickets in last 23 ODI games.
On the basis of recent performances seven players were recalled for the tour of India. Ahmed Shahzad, Umar Amin, Junaid Khan and Mohammad Irfan were included in Twenty20 squad while Wahab Riaz, Anwar Ali and Imran Farhat are included in the ODI squad.
